Persuasive Technology, B.J. Fogg. Anbefaling.

Bogen er en grundig indføring i persuasive teknologier og hvorledes de kan anvendes. Bogen indeholder mange klare definitioner af begreber og deres virkningsfelt. F.eks. Persuasion defineres som aktiviteter med følgende formål: Behavior change, Attitude change, motivation, change in worldview and compliance.

Persuasion som foregår via computer defineres med et nyt begreb: Captology. Computere kan spille tre forskellige persuasive roller. Disse tre roller opdeler Fogg igen i tre måder hvorpå disse roller kan være persuasive:

Computer as Tools. Increases capability. A tool can be persuasive by:

  • Making target behavior easier to do
  • Leading people through a process
  • Performing calculations or measurements that motivate

Computer as Medium. Provides experience. A medium can be persuasive by:

  • Allowing people to explore cause-and-effect relationship
  • Providing people with vicarious experiences that motivate
  • Helping people rehearse a behavior Computer as actor.

Creates relationship. A social actor can be persuasive by:

  • Rewarding people with positive feedback
  • Modeling a target behavior or attitude
  • Providing social support

Kapitel 7 indeholder en gennemgang af en meget interessant undersøgelse af hvad der skaber troværdighed på nettet.
